Do you wipe down your new MBP when you first get it due to COVID-19?
If anything, what else do you do?

For a while I lightly gelled my magic mouse and keyboard as well as my iPhone and iPad cases (and cleaned the screens with iKlear), but have slacked off quite a bit lately.

No one is wiping their Macs with a Disinfecting Wipes when receiving them?

I didn't worry about it and I received my MBA a month ago.

The virus doesn't survive on surfaces all that long - and the computer/package spends more than that amount of time in transit. Not to mention that surface to person transmission hasn't been documented.

... but do what makes you feel most comfortable.

Not related to Covid-19 concerns but what kind of cloth do you guys wipe your MacBook Pro down with regularly? I'm thinking of maybe some sort of micro fibre cloth to wipe the screen and keyboard from time to time. Any suggestions? Also, if you're cleaning the screen to get rid of finger prints, what are you guys using? The odd time I see a finger print on my screen, happens randomly as I don't remember touching the screen for any reason.

There is pretty much a 0% chance of catching coronavirus from the contents of a delivery. The only risk is the outer packaging, if the person who physically delivered it to you is infected. Just make sure you wash your hands well after unpacking it.

The only thing you need to wipe down is the outer packaging material that are handled by others when you get them. Items inside the box have been there too long for the virus to be of any concern.

I bought microfiber cloths off of Amazon. I bought one as a layer between the screen and keyboard when I’m done at night - 2 came in that pack and you can use to wipe down as well. I really like these. I also have a set of thinner smaller cloths that I had from before the MBP purchase.

These are the US links. There’s probably something similar for Canada.

And you’re pretty much basing that assumption on the constant disinformation being put out by the media and CDC I take it? Like how they said don’t wear a mask?

I recall an article a couple months ago saying COVID can live on surfaces for up to weeks. But now they’re saying there’s ‘no proof’ that it can be transmitted that way. Well a few months ago they said that there is no human to human transmission. So I’d take whatever they tell you with a grain of salt.

I’ll continue wiping down everything that comes into my home. I’m even quarantining deliveries for a week before I open them.

Which one did you buy/use for this purpose? I've often hated how the keyboard keys leave a slight imprint on the screen after a few days/weeks. Not sure if it's an issue with the new MacBooks my with my older MB Air, I had to constantly wipe the screen down because I could see the border marks of the keys.

The Uppercase GhostBlanket cloths. They are cut to fit the 13” MBP so there is no overhang when the lid is closed. I had the same issue with my previous MBP, so it was one of the first accessories I was looking for this time around.

Do you have any problems with the fold of the cloth leaving a mark on the screen? I was reading one of the reviewers of the product and he said that because the cloth came folded, when he uses it to cover his keyboard, it leaves the fold mark on the screen right down the middle.

He also mentioned something about the edges of the cloth being somewhat sharp? I'm debating between the two you provided, similar pricing and will just have them shipped in from the U.S Amazon store since they Canadian store doesn't have these anywhere. I also ordered Whoosh as well for times I need to wipe things down with a damp cloth.

That's strange. The cloth does come folded in a plastic wrap, but it hasn't left any marks on my screen from the folds. If it was that serious, I could always take an iron to it, I guess, but it's a microfiber cloth, not plastic that will mark your screen. Also, no sharp edges at all - again, it's microfiber material. The edges do look like they were cut with scissors in some spots, but you're not cutting your fingers or scratching the glass. When I take it off the keyboard, I loosely fold it to put it away.

One thing, I wish the other Uppercase cloth was dark like the Kuzy cloths. The Uppercase cloths will look dingy faster because of their color (dull beige grey) even if they are clean.

The Kuzy cloths are great cleaning cloths in general. I've been using one for my iPad Pro screen. Like I said before, the Kuzy cloths are a little thinner than the Uppercase cloths.

I may look for a darker cloth similar to the Uppercase cloth for my next purchase. That would be perfect.

I ended up ordering the Kuzy cloth... The two options you provided were really the only good options I could find anywhere. Thanks for the suggestion, appreciate it!
