It's too late now, but if you could retroactively change the resolutions of their past devices, do you wish the original iPhone dubued with a resolution of 640x400 and the iPhone 4 upped it to 1280x800.

And the iPad followed suit with a resolution of 2560x1600. You would be able to play back HD content on the iPhone and iPad Mini at native resolution. This would have also made developers cross supporting multiple devices with their apps much easier.

Not to mention the fact that 16:10 is the ideal aspect ratio for your eyes.

It's the Golden Ratio that many artists and architects who studied it estimate to be the proportion most aesthetically pleasing to the human eye.

It's also a perfect in between aspect ratio between the current iPhone and the iPad and would also allow for native playback of movies.

Because why would someone bother to click on this thread or vote in the poll if they couldn't care less?

The mere fact that you're here replying tells me that you atleast care somewhat.

Many industries were moving towards adopting 16:10 as the optimal resolution for everything up till 2008. Then, they started moving towards 16:9 instead due to movies.

Apple stuck with 16:10 with their Macbook Monitors, but if they also used this resolution for the blazingly successful iPhone and later iPad, I think it may have ended up the standard across a range of devices.

No, I don't wish for an imperfect setup that tries to reuse desktop resolutions on mobile devices.

Yet another hyper specific opinion shoehorned into a poll.

Hint. Your opinion does not necessarily translate into a good poll. And the more specific/weird/randomly thought up your opinion, the less it needs a poll.

POST your opinions all you like. STOP with the dumb polls.

OK POST:
"I think the iPhone would look great with a golden glitter covered smiley face on the back."

LAME POLL:
"Who thinks the iPhone would look great with a golden glitter covered smiley face on the back?"

For the iPhone, yes would have much prefered that. For the iPad, no, I want something that's closer to the aspect ratio of a piece of paper. For me the primary function of the iPad is to replace paper, sure it can do other stuff like movies and games, but the big thing for me is that I no longer have to carry folders, forms, or books around, the iPad and a stylus is all I need.

Definitely not. I hate 16:10.

16:9 is so much better.

The iphone 5 screen is really great!!

I think 4:3 suits the iPad quite well having seen/experienced 16:9 tablets.

That said, 16:10 is by far the best ratio imo, essentially best of both worlds. One of the many reasons I prefer Apple laptops. 11" MBA aside, they're mostly 16:10. To this day I really regret selling my old 24" 1920x1200 Cinema Display, that was a gorgeous piece of kit.
