Dock appearance

Hi all,

I happen to REALLY like the way the dock appears when put on the left or right positioning. It looks like it used to, and much clearer in my opinion, especially the dots indicating that the application is open. I don't know if there is any hope for this, but is there any way to have that same look but on the BOTTOM?

I don't know how to do it, but if you do a search you'll find that there are many ways to easily turn the 3D dock into the 2D look.
