Howdy everyone, I've searched the forums and I discovered one thread about the USB cable creating scratches to where you plug in the cable but my cable has created grooves into the side of the slot. It looks as if the "teeth" of the USB cable sliced into the sides of the slot. One on each side. It is noticeable as the grooves start on the outside of the slot. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.

They are all made that way. The notches are normal! :)

Can you post some close up photos in the thread?

Never noticed it before, but as others said it is perfectly normal. I only have the light scratches, but no grooves on mine. How did you even notice this? I never look in that area on my iPad.

I was just admiring the beauty of the iPad when I noticed the grooves on the sides of the slot. I wonder if this may affect how the USB cable may "hold" the iPad over the next few years with wear and tear.

If you look at the USB cable closely, you will see tiny prongs that fit those notches, I think the notches and prongs work together to keep the cable connected properly.

Just checked my wifi and DH's 3G. Both are grooved. I'd say it's normal.

Apple will expect for you to buy a new iPad in the next few years.
