I've been noticing since I got the 4S that when I connect the USB dock connector to the dock connector port, it is slightly uneven when plugged in. I just noticed that, inside the dock connector port, there seems to be some weird purple-colored putty stuck way inside. I was able to take out what I could with my finger, and it had a thread-like, soft, construction paper feel to it.

Not sure what this is. The phone works perfectly, and I've got everything set up. It charges fine as well (but the connector sticks out slightly unevenly).

I just wanted your opinion as to whether I should take this back to the Apple store.

Heh, that happened on my iPhone 4. It was just lint from my pocket.

Very funny, but I figured out this was true. :(

Lint got in the dock port and then I charged it...so the lint has been pressed to the back and bottom...wow...did not think of this when I got the iPhone 4S!
