The image you have in front is not as tall, therefore it looks like it is floating in space.

no they're all attached to the dock as usual but their icons are all wrong. the app's folder should have an imprinted capital A, and the user icon should be of the house. i have leopard by the way. i don't know if that clears anything up.

Nope. The applications folder becomes just like any other folder stack and shows the contents in alphabetical order. Same with the home folder.

is nobody looking at the picture i attached? the users folder is showing an icon of a .psd file i have somewhere on my desktop, and the applications folder is showing the contacts icon or address book icon.

Yeah, and I'm telling you that's how Stacks work; you see the contents, not the folder. If you want to see the folder, go back to Tiger. 😕

Yes, we see exactly what is going on...you're not reading the link I provided you with. If you read that you'll understand.

Well you don't have to go back to tiger to get it to look like a folder.

If you're running the latest version of Leopard you can right click on the folder and click "Display as Folder"

Don't worry the way they look is a feature not a bug. QUIT FREAKING OUT!
