I recently got a 15" retina mbp and something strange is happening when I shut down or restart. The screen turns dim and the dock begins to go down, stops in that position for about 3 seconds and than shuts down. If I hide the dock this does not happen though. When I shut down my iMac the screen goes black without this dimming phase.

Any thoughts?

Software glitch of some description.

So i exchanged the mbp for a new one. The issue was resolved but once i started customizing my preferences, and downloading adobe & Firefox, the problem reoccurred. I deleted both adobe and firefox and tried putting preferences back to default, but same issue.

When i hide the dock, this does not happen. At least i feel more comfortable that it is not a hardware issue

Just seeing this thread. I have a similar issue - see video. Is this kind of what you're seeing?
