Hilarious that you think 2 is more than 4. All 4 of the USB-C ports on the MBP are both Thunderbolt, USB and charge capable so you can connect 4 USB devices. Both notebook models require the correct connector on the notebook side which would be either USB-A or USB-C. Cables and converters for both connectors are available today and far cheaper than a hub or a dock. You go nuts over adapters and are now recommending more expensive options such as a Thunderbolt dock (those things cost 200+ USD!), that's just bloody hilarious1) You could connect 2 USB-A devices. True. But that is 2 more then today. And if you wanted more USB devices, you could use TB2 dock/hub/adapter, or even USB-a hub. Something you can't use today![]()
Why would I be talking about you? There is HDMI but that is only 1 port. Very hilarious to see that the solution for the older models is to buy a very expensive 200+ USD Thunderbolt dock whereas the solution for the new MBP is to buy a 2 to 9 USD convertor or cable2) Why would I connect 2 displays to TB2? There is HMDI as well, right? And there are docks, right? I connect 2 displays via just one TB2 port via my tb2 dock. And still I have all those sd cards, usb-a, hdmi ports free.
No. HDMI is compatible with DVI only so you can either use HDMI or a HDMI-DVI convertor. VGA is not possible, neither is DisplayPort.3) HDMI actually allowed more then just hdmi connections. You have hdmi-vga, hdmi-dvi, hdmi-display port cables and adapters.
The entire point is that you aren't screwed with any model because you can use all kind of devices with them without any kind of adapter. There are some exceptions to the rule for both machines (VGA, DVI, ethernet, CF cards, etc. require an adapter on both machines for example) and there are use cases where each machine shines. Not to mention that there are many people not even connecting anything to their notebook when on the road (or are even allowed to do so due to security reasons and certifications such as ISO 27001).I simply don't see how anyone is screwed? You can connect your MBP with almost any tv/monitor without adapters/dongles/etc. You can use usb-a, sd card, all without adapters.
Too bad that a true fanboy minion like you doesn't see that. I know you like being dictated what ports to use exactly because you can't make your own decisions and choices. That doesn't mean everybody else does too. Nor does it mean that everybody else has the same fear of change like you do. For people like you the older way of doing things (the OEM decides what you can connect to the machine) is better suited but for anybody else the current way is far better (user decides what can be connected to the machine, not anybody else).
Like I said, you need adapters with the old models too so the same thing appliesYour screwed. Bring adapters. Forgot them? Well, you can't use what you want![]()
I rather make my own choices and decisions than get dictated by some OEM or some bloke on the internet. My attitude is also very different from yours: instead of looking at what I can't do, I look at what I can do (which is a whole lot more than on previous models). If that makes me a fanboy then so be itThe rest of your post is written like a true fanboy, so I won't bother anymore![]()
