Just a little update with some information I have gathered. I've spoken to two of the founders of the company via email.

The foot print is ~ 9" x 6". All MagSafe Connectors will work on all MacBooks, but only the square ones will work in our dock

We're shipping from Dallas

Our system has been having issues sending out confirmation emails periodically. To get your order out as soon as possible we shipped via United States Postal Service.

Has anyone gotten their henge dock? I reeaally like the idea of having one or two of those around the house! On my desk connected to a external screen and maybe one by my tv like in the vid. But how well does it fit? Does the ports fit seamlessly in the Macbook Pro? I would hate damaging my MBP..
And also, does the dock create any scratches? It seems as if scratches might occur over time.. What do you think?

Yes, I just received mine today. Have run into a few problems so far. I can write a detailed post later, but here are my first impressions--

-Computer sits a bit higher than I thought, and it's not 'rock solid' secure while docked (it wobbles just a bit).
-The FW800 cable included is really short (probably 3 ft) and is male to male (the rest of the cables are male to female, with the exception of the ethernet)
-They're serious when they say you have to have Apple cables. I have a monoprice Mini-Display to DVI and it will NOT fit in the dock
-The way you set the cables in the dock is you connect the cable to the computer, gently set it in the dock, then wrench the cables in, I didn't feel uncomfortable doing it and I'm pretty anal about that kind of stuff...

Hope this helps?

Can you somehow shave the opening for the mini-display port to
make the opening bigger and allow the mini-display to fit?

Noooo! I just received my Monoprice MiniD to DVI adapter in anticipation for the HengeDock!!! Let me know if you find a workaround...

Did you try to put it in this way?

I couldn't even get to that point, because the actual Mini Display end that sticks through the dock (to connect to the computer) will not fit through the hole that comes pre-drilled. As another poster said, you could decide to shave the cable or the hole itself, but I think I might end up sending mine back :(

The dealbreaker for me with the hengedocks is that I cant use the magsafe on my 24" ACD. I was all ready to buy one when I read that.

They seem cool, but need a little bit more work on compatibility before I buy one. For now I'm still looking for an mStand

This was looking like a good option because of how low cost it is versus other docks. But when you factor the possibility of having to buy an older-style MagSafe power brick AND Apple's MiniDP adapter, the deal kinda sours a bit.

I bought 3rd party Magsafe adapters on eBay for $16.25/each shipped. At that price, I have one at the office, one at home and the Apple badged unit in my laptop bag.

I'll be happy to post some pictures a little later in the day (probably around 5 or 6 EST).

I've already boxed it to ship back, but I'd be happy to take some photos before I send it back. I must add, they've been really nice about taking it back, so I can't complain.

Definitely sours the deal, but the next best option AFAIK is that super ugly BookEndz thing.

Hopefully the next generation of HengeDock has it's own ports and doesn't rely on threading our existing ones.

USPS says my HengeDock has arrived in town, so I'm just waiting on delivery...

Will post pics.

Excuse the lack of a professional camera and mediocre lighting, but here you go. As I stated before, I'm sending mine back, so I don't have any of the jacks through and mounted anymore. If you guys have any requests of other things to take pictures of, let me know. I've never posted pictures on this forum before so I hope I didn't misformat.

This is the Monoprice Minidisplay cable that will not fit through the port on the dock itself :(

I almost bought one of these until I realized that my macbook pro with speck satin shell on it would not fit.. bummer.

TY for the photos! Not bad at all!

Let me undertand if i got it.

You pass all the cables trough the base, plug it one by one in the mbp and then insert the mac in the base?

or

you can just put the mbp in the base and all the cables got plugged at once?

The way I understand, you only have to do that process once to set the heights. After you install the set-screws, the cables remain fixed in place. You can remove your laptop and reinsert without any hassle after that first setup.

However, I don't have one, so I'm just going by what is on their website.

Yep, this is correct. Only the first time.

what exactly is the point of this dock station other than the slight cool factor? it doesnt make plug in/out of the macbook pro any easier, i would argue it's even more difficult.

Why not just sit the mbp on the desk, and plug in whatever wire you need. Them use a wire wrapper from home depot and wrap all the wires together for neat wire management. So you just unplug and take macbook, then plug back when at home.....

I think the point is that docks DO make it easier, hence the "docking" nature.

After initial set up, you could slide your macbook in there and everything is connected.

If I had to do this manually, I would have to connect my power, audio, mouse, keyboard (i could use wireless, but I don't), and minidisplay to DVI or HDMI (monitor or TV)... every time I take my laptop somewhere, which during school is a few times a day... super annoying.

I did this until I got the Henge Dock. The dock frees up quite a bit of space on the desk.

If you plug in a power cord, iPhone, ethernet cable, firewire, hard drive, printer, external monitor, and speakers every time you sit at your desk, it's easy to slide the computer into a holster rather than plug in 8 separate cables every single time you sit down. It also looks much nicer and keeps the cables off the desk.

I'd love to hear how you think this product makes plugging in more difficult, though.

The reason I'm not going to Home Depot is because I don't want to plug in multiple cables manually (ie. find which port is which, make sure I'm lining them up, etc.). Personally, I'd rather do one motion (putting it in the dock) than 8 separate motions that require more accuracy (each cord, finding the port and putting it in) I also don't want the ends of the cables exposed when the computer isn't docked because I think it looks bad and is messy.
