We are a little behind you Brits what can I say? I just hope we catch up to your General who is saying lets get the hell out of Iraq.;)
Hang on... I think I've fathomed out what you're on about here. Is tonight's show the one with Sarah Jane Smith in it – one of the companions from the Pertwee/Baker era? :)

Finally resuming!

The next season (not series--that's Brit-speak, and this thread is for the U.S. showings, remember? ;)) of Doctor Who is nearly here! The wait has been ridiculous, in my opinion. I'm obviously looking forward to it, while my wife is apprehensive about the fact that there's a new companion, much as she was about the Doctor's regeneration. I guess she didn't grow up with it as a fact of the Doctor's life.

Don't forget: Friday (6 July) at 8pm! And then another at 9pm.

Which series will you guys be up to then?

I believe its the 3rd season, which just ended in merry old England. :)

I hear they will be bringing Torchwood to BBC America in september. I'm curious to see if that is any good.

Yeah, 3rd season. Actually we start out with a Christmas special, or something like that. According to SciFi.com, Doctor Who will run from 8 - 10:30 on Friday--extra half hour there, it seems.

...make sure you guys don’t miss the Human Nature/Family of Blood two parter and Blink. Some of the finest Doctor who episodes I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing, be it the new Who or the ‘classic’ series.

I totally agree there!
Made the season finale episodes seem a bit flat to me...

Even after seeing Torchwood is pretty difficult to work out if it's any good:confused:

Hmmm...that's not a good sign. :( I heard the themes were supposed to be darker and targeting an older audience. I thought it might not be too bad since it has Indira Varma in the show and I liked her in the role of Niobe in the HBO series Rome. I guess I'll have to wait until september to see.

Runaway Bride wasn't too bad last night. Nice to see that they have a bigger budget for costumes and special effects--much better looking than the 1980s, imho.

I thought they were both pretty good. I especially enjoyed Smith and Jones... "Barefoot on the Moon!" :D

Freema Agyeman looks like she will make a good addition as the Doctor's latest companion. The Judoon looked great, I like the single-minded enforcer concept taken to that almost absurd extreme.:D

All I can say is why would Sci-Fi choose to run Doctor Who and not continue making Stargate SG-1! Retarded in my opinion!!!

I watched an epiosde of Doctor Who yesterday for the first time. It was very interesting. This hospital was sent to the moon or something. I must say it is a bizzare show, but its a totally different type of Sci-Fi show that you cannot find in America really. It is a very "British" show though. I don't think I really liked the show, maybe cause I just thought it was weird, but I couldn't stop watching it.

I think what you are noticing as 'Britishness' is more to do with Dr Who being aimed at a younger audience than most other Sci-Fi shows. It's essentially a kids/family show.

I am not really a fan of the show ether, but I still watch it on occasion.

But having said that, Blink (in season 3) was a very good episode and compares very well to some of the best episodes in other more traditional Sci-Fi shows.

That it is. It's the beauty of Who. Kids and adults watch it, theres sexual innuendo that the little chaps don't understand. Violent, massive body count etc. Yet it's "for the family". Can't fault it really :D
