I have a frequently-accessed PDF document in my macOS dock. Instead of the default PDF icon, I'd like to have a custom icon represent this PDF in the dock. I've created a PNG with transparency and have tried copying and pasting it into the icon on the Get Info menu. This doesn't seem to work the same way it does for custom icons for external hard drives.

Thoughts?

Doesn't work how? Error message when you paste the PNG? Seems to paste in Get Info but does not appear in the Dock? Tell us what is going on so we can help you.

This is now working. When I copied/pasted the PNG into the icon, it didn't work. Nothing happened.

However, it worked when I converted the PNG to ICNS format.
