Is there anything in the App Store Developer agreement that prevents someone like DataViz from having their Documents To Go from syncing with an FTP server? Now, that would make the App awesome. Does Apples' having the MobileMe restrict things like this from competing?

What are your thoughts and input?

No restrictions that I'm aware of. Dataviz are apparently working on some kind of cloud access for the app. Don't know if this means iDisk or something else or a combination. We'll have to wait and see.

Other apps have ability to upload/download files with other server type, but generally speaking they connect to WebDAV servers, see Good Reader, Air Sharing Pro as examples. Then there's obviously the DropBox app which directly competes with iDisk, yet is allowed. So I'm hopeful for something good.

As an aside, with my newly jailbroken 3gs, I've just discovered I can now download files directly in safari (with safari download manager), then copy to Docs2Go's local folder using the iFile app. Sweet!
