does a restore clear hacks?

if i restore my software does it clear off hacks. i tried ifuntastic and did the unshackle process, then restored the software on the phone and did installer.app. if i restore the software can i update with no worries?

I read some people just did the straight update, but to be safe I backed up and then did a restore and upgrade.

Thought it would only be an extra ten minutes, instead of having a bricked phone. Right now its just adding back the music, seems to be fine.
