Just wondering what happens to a iPhone 3G after activation and then service is discontinued?

iPhone is an iPod touch with the phone feature obviously(except for the camera). If you discontinue your service how are you going to call?

I know that Apple said your old 2G phone can be used as a hand-me-down or "wi-fi" pod. So I think it will be a "wi-fi pod" with a camera and speakerphone. Nice!

Except, I like making phone calls.

That's how my roommate is rocking my 2G now: An iPod Touch with hardware volume controls and a camera. Good deal.
