I want to know if I backup with Time Machine if it saves all my data. My mac has had some problems and I am going to replace it today, if not get it fixed. If I have to replace it, how would I back EVERYTHING up so I can just restore it to what it looks like now, like all the apps and what it has on it? Do I just use Time Machine when I get my new one and use my external and then it works? Or do I gotta do it some otherway? Thanks for your help.

Unless you tell it to do otherwise, TM will take a complete copy of your drive.

The first time you do this will take a long time (6-12hours+) to complete, so if you are getting a new machine tomorrow, you had better get cracking.

I recommend you use an ethernet cable for the initial back up ;-)

Yes TM backs up everything unless you told it not to under TimeMachine-->Options.

On your new Mac,Migration Utility will ask if you want to transfer files from TM . You don't have to do it at first start-up. Do it when you have time. Spotlight ---> Migration. I like Firewire if your TM & new Mac has it.
