I am thinking about buying the Elgato video capture device to digitize old VHS videos and put them on my Mac.
Wanted to check to see if anyone has any experience with these.

Yes, I have this.... :)
Works very well, easy to use interface (running in HS, not sure what version MacOS the app supports beyond this).
I have only done short clips however, 5-10mins, so not sure how it performs with say 60mins continuous.
Ideally record to a separate ssd drive.

I am currently running Sierra 10.12.6. so I should be OK. I could upgrade to HS or Cat haven't done it because some apps I use will break. I have a bunch of short family videos. The longest might be 30 min. Thanks for replying

Just looked at the box, min os is 10.6.8.
So should be fine.
Obviously you only get out what you put in, looking at vhs footage these days is very grainy.
Suppose depends what rez it’s recorded in, all my tapes are stuff off tv from 25+ years ago, so I think 640x480.
