I can afford it I normally sell my previous iPhone for quite a tidy profit each year. But in nz it's often easier to buy phones off contract only now have our subsidies actually started to be worth it. but i do feel off spending $1300 on an iPhone 6 (64gb with applecare) I mean I can get a macbook air for that price.

No regrets. I only buy what I can afford however and tech devices are high on my list of coveted items.

I mean I bought the new 6 plus full price, it's a nice phone but when I think about the money I spent for a phone I feel sick. :(

Does anyone else feel the same way?
funny you say that, i had that feeling as well for weeks and returned it for a phone 6s or 7 (im looking at it now)
i know the plus models have more camera and screen to offer....to name a few things, but it felt sick holding a flat large iphone for some reason, especially now that i got a ipad pro.

the only luxury apple device i own is a gold macbook, absolutely beautiful yet the iphone 7 plus felt guilty, i cant quite put my finger on it to say exactly why but its true, i felt the same way

Lol how did you find this post? Googled iPhone guilt?

If a materialistic purchase made with currency makes you sick you should seek professional counseling. It's a product. It's money. Those mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.

its not the purchase that makes me feel sick its any iphone plus, feels like a samsung.

And suggesting anyone needs professional counseling because you dont agree with them says allot about you

These things are costing more and more. You gotta pay to play. I resisted buying the iPhone XS Max because it seemed like it was around just enough to satisfy me. Didn't like spending that much and not knowing whether or not I was going to be satisfied; especially when there were other options. Ended up buying it and it feels alright. Who knows what I'll be paying in 2 years.

i dont mind the iphone x, i could get one for free through apple sources but i decided to wait because i heard about better things around the corner, i cant say anything here but apple has tons of surprises, they hold back only because of production limitations, contracts with suppliers etc, China is a pain in the neck...

Oh, you're on the inside? Lol

I don't know what I'll be paying in 2 years, but I'll definitely have an Apple phone. I have all Apple products, so it seems I'm a hostage in the Apple orchard.

Never felt guilty.

Old thread for sure but my the OP is feeling guilt because of the money and they are thinking they should have done something different with the money instead of buying an iPhone. Like paying one's school loan. etc?

Why would I feel guilty about spending the money I worked hard for in the manner I wish to spend it?
the problem is not how much or spending it but that one feels as if the bigger screen is a great idea that ends up been something far from ergonomic, i cant hold a iphone plus in my hand with worrying i will drop it, the only practical use for a plus iphone is driving with google maps.

That's because you're holding it wrong.

GET A LOOPY CASE
if im holding it wrong its because im used to holding a phone, you proved my point...not ergonimic, its not a phone, its a mini tablet or apple game pad slash ipod etc

way too big for a phone in my hands

Can’t take it with you to the grave, may as well enjoy as much as you can while you’re still alive! ;)
No doubt, the only problem is we don't know how much we will need, so a lot of old people are living really rough due to no money.

I think you’re taking the term ‘ergonomic’ out of context, because the phone *is* ergonomic, as it is designed for efficiency for anyone to hold, the reality is, your hands are just aren’t the appropriate size for the phone. It’s not the phone that’s the problem, it’s the phone size that you chose that are too big for your hands.

Someone making $12 an hour who lives at home takes home can afford an iPhone that costs $1000. It depends on many variables, but it’s not something only the rich can afford. Anyone can pay Apple $50 per month for 2 years and buy the newest and greatest.

only the naive would buy the newest iphone, i know people using a ipad 2 with os8 and its as fast as a ipad pro 2018, maybe limited in memory and number of web pages open but its super fast, you have to be naive not to figured out that Apple makes over 640% profit off devices against the costs to make them, no one should spend as much as they could on a used car for a telephone,

everything about Apple, HUAWAI and other major companies partially backed by state sponsors is marketing and control of your device and information.

the question you should be asking is if your allowed to have a fast device or are you simply the sheep cunsumer.

Just a reminder, my bf says that when he was with Jobs in 1993 they spoke about the future if he returned to Apple, his vision was that everyone can have a watch, enter a cafe with tables make of displays with virtual keyboards to access their account (on their watch)...the idea has already been tested but we live in a world of greed, Apple calculates everything based on profit, including how they ceeate the apple pen and the addons they charge you, whos apps are up in the charts and so on....what if we had it all, where would apple be right?, just anoher hardware provider essenblimg parts from china together in a perfume box?

If the old iPhone I have works good enough, then buying a new one would leave a bad taste in my mouth. The only way I won't feel guilty buying a new iPhone is if my current one doesn't work anymore. Otherwise (to me) it's throwing away $1000
