Hahah, same here. 52859557. It's been close to 15 years since I've used ICQ. It was so cool and so much fun back in the day though!
I have a friend who had a low 6-digit number that actually got sold a few years back for some money--apparently there's a market for such things, even today.

I'm just glad IRC is still used. Even though I spend most of my time logged into Steam or Facebook, nothing will ever be able to replace the feeling of pure utility that comes with IRC.
I think it's still popular among some countries/regions.
The owners say it has over 6 million regular users in Russia alone; and 11 in total.

But how do they make money?

as for IIRC, I am going to guess the glory days of '99 are way over. How do you get IRC on OS X? there are like only 2 apps (limelight and Colloquy) and they seem very outdated.

The group (Mail.RU) that owns ICQ now has a lot of fingers in a lot of pies, everything from email to VoIP to MMOs. They must be doing something right, since they're doing fine on the LSE: http://www.londonstockexchange.com/...ry/company-summary/US5603172082USUSDIOBE.html

Last I knew global users of IRC dropped into 6 figures a long time ago, but those of us using it today are pretty stubborn about it. As for apps, I find Colloquy fine for daily use. It has been a couple of years since its last update, but it still works fine on 10.11.4. There's always Quassel, which is still being developed, and mIRC can be ran with Parallels.

I have a feeling that if IRC ever dies, so would have the personal computer at that point. Colloquy has its iOS app too, there is this new one that just came out but it pretty buggy, and Android's choices at the time when I was using it was so so.

Now that it's come to mind... I miss playing IRC UNO. Good times.

I used to. IM never died. People just switch platforms. One time its ICQ, then MSN, BBM, and now people use Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, and Telegram.

I still remember when my friend first told me about ICQ and I was like "You mean if I log online at my house, and you log online at your house, I can see you that you are online?!? Thats amazing!"

Now what I really miss are internet chatrooms...
It was fun to log in something that was of your interest and chat away.

Haha chatrooms! I forgot about those, I would love chatting on there. It's hard to believe I made a ton of friends that I would communicate regularly with.

What's strange is that the file transfer functionality in ICQ still seems unrivaled today. In 1999 you could send a file and it would show time remaining and the speed. I know uploading to the cloud and sharing a link is more convenient but sometimes you just want to send a 350mb file directly to a friend.
