Okay, I will try to politely explain.

Yes, your "arguments" don't carry a lot of weight—you haven't even seen or touched the laptop. It's out in the world, so if you want people to take you seriously while you say things like "brainwashing" and "irrelevant" and "placebo", you're going to have to know what the hell you're talking about.

I have an m1 and an m2 MBA here in the house, and yes, you can tell it's different—some of it is that it's lighter, a lot of it is the change in how the weight is distributed.

Go educate yourself, and then maybe come back? Until then, why would we listen to you?

Okay, I will try to politely explain.

I raised my concern that people are "excited" that Air M2 is lighter than M1, while in reality it is lighter only by irrelevant margin. This is placebo effect, if it was lighter by 0.0001g they would have been just as excited. This is misleading and delusional, just like the CPU iterations that are marginally faster. This is how marketing brainwashes people and make them buy stuff they don't need (and it's terrible for the environment to produce more).
it's slightly lighter; that's what's known as a 'fact'. no one is saying it's 'astonishingly' lighter, or 'significantly' or 'incredibly' lighter. so what exactly is your point? even your poll confirms that most people understand the difference between the 'slightly' heavier M1 air (vs the 'slightly' lighter M2 air). really, it's a non-issue...

You still don't have a clue what I said, do you?
Do you have a clue what you said?

Why are you coming in here combative and insulting people while ignoring the points they make. This all seems to be just a way for you to complain in public about a laptop that you haven’t even seen. I’m sorry that your poll didn’t go the way you expected it to, but you might want to actually go look at the MBA before you keep dumping on it.

I agree. The bear is upset that people might be “excited” by how much lighter the M2 is than the M1, but no one here was saying that except the bear. Anyone who mentioned the weight talked about a “tiny bit lighter”. The poll and most of the comments were about the thinness until the bear diverted the conversation to weight. It really is a non-issue.

I think shaving 50g off a minimalistic device such as this, is actually quite the feat. But jumping to unsubstantiated conclusions of people fooled by placebo effect and being delusional seems quite combative straight out of the gate.

I think rather the M2 is better balanced (vs offset in the M1) to "appear" much lighter perhaps. It's common with any device, any object in hand really, where the weight is equally distributed.
