If u can wait until june u can wait until winter 2022 too lolif I didn't NEED it now, I would wait.
WWDC is usually in the summer and that's when they announced M1 in 2020.
Apple is pretty darn good at keeping things (fairly) consistent. If nothing at WWDC then I would buy an M1 afterwards.
if I didn't NEED it now, I would wait.I’d like a MacBook, but from everything I have read it’s worth waiting for the air 2022. My budget is about $1,500 if that matters. I want something to last me 5 years. Am I wrong, or should I wait? I don’t need it today, but it would be nice. Just afraid I’ll sell it for a loss next year for the 2022 model if I buy now. Is there anything now for $1500 that will rival the 2022 air?
I was replying to another member, I messed up and didn't quote him.If u can wait until june u can wait until winter 2022 too lol
Apple announced the M1 Mini dev platform at WWDC, but the laptops in the fall. I'd expect the next M2 consumer laptops in the fall, not the summer.if I didn't NEED it now, I would wait.

that's exactly what I was inferring.Apple announced the M1 Mini dev platform at WWDC, but the laptops in the fall. I'd expect the next M2 consumer laptops in the fall, not the summer.
Yeah that’s one of the benefits of getting the cheapest base model. Also have the base one.I just bought the M1 base model at Costco for $799 on Dec 23rd. I absolutely love it. My thought is when the new one comes out, I could always trade this one in toward the purchase of the new one.
Costco had the base MBA for $799 just before Christmas. With a credit I had on my card I got it effectively for $636. That was cheap enough for me to pull the trigger - even with an all-new MBA due in 2022. Even if I decide to go for the new version, say, next Christmas, I'll bet I can sell the one I have now for $500 or so. That's good value. And by the time that time comes, I'll have some very firm ideas about what I needs in terms of RAM and SSD capacity.Given how often Apple sells MBA for $799 or less ($740 during BTS promo) over the past year, seems like a good chance this M1 will drop to this price in mid-2022 when the new model launches.
I do. $899 and a year of usage, really great 'kit'
Was a YUGE upgrade from my quad core i5 early 2020 Air that preceded it.
Good holdover too if you're awaiting that alleged 2022 Air re-design M2-ish or M1.5 that will certainly command at least a $400-500 premium.
The thing is... I've had my MBA for 4 months and despite having a more powerful Intel Imac, I keep coming back to this laptop. One of the single features I greatly appreciate is the fanless lack of noise. I tend to think it helps me think or listen to whatever music I'm listening to. I had to quickly jump on a Zoom meeting and my Imac was being difficult. I went to grab the MBA and was on the meeting instantaneously. I just find this thing I pleasure to work on. It also cost half of what my Imac did.![]()
I feel exactly the same.Unless you're running a podcast and recording and cutting audio and video, or same with a film, I see little reason to purchase the MacBook Pro other than to be able to say, "I got a MBP." Even the MBA with the 8 core CPU and GPU could probably handle it.
My only complaint with the MBA is I wish it had more ports.
I feel exactly the same.
I got the MBA with 8GB of RAM.
It runs laps compared to my previous 16" 2019.
Completely silent. Faster. Amazing battery. I normally work connected to an external display, so display size is no problem.
I honestly can't come up with any reason or usage scenario to go for a bigger laptop (14" / 16") instead of this MBA for normal users.
At first I also thought the lack of ports was going to be an issue, but two are more than enough. When at my desk, I use an adapter, on the go, I rarely need more than two ports.
And no fans! Something tells me this is the start of very durable laptops. No dirt, no moving parts. This laptop is a work of art.
I haven't felt this happy with a Mac since getting the original Black MacBook.
I agree. I'm of the opinion that the MBA is the best laptop ever made. The design, the tech, the marriage being hardware and software. You can't beat it.
Also, order this hub for it.

I’m pretty worried that Apple might be making a mistake if the rumored new MBA design is accurate. Sometimes leaving a good design alone is the best option. Generally I think Apple gets new designs right but in this case, I agree that the current MBA design is going to be hard to beat. I’d rather they just make the current design a little lighter if possible.I agree. I'm of the opinion that the MBA is the best laptop ever made. Agreed. Maybe a little smaller bezels and such, but no white bezels/keyboards and no notch. That would cheapen its look considerably.I’m pretty worried that Apple might be making a mistake if the rumored new MBA design is accurate. Sometimes leaving a good design alone is the best option. 1000% agree.. What's additionally confusing is that all the reports I read said that the m1 MBA sold better than Apple expected. Why trash a design that's spectacular and doing better than you expected?Agreed. Maybe a little smaller bezels and such, but no white bezels/keyboards and no notch. I have an almost identical one. Just a different brand.
Must be the same Chinese plant making them
So far so good.
