I just went from a iPhone 4 to an iPhone 6. One thing I keep noticing is I have a fair amount of trouble plugging it in when its completely dark. It seems to me that the much larger 30 pin dock connector was just easier to find but then you had to flip it over. I legit sit here with the end of the Lightning connector stabbing the butt of my phone hopping I don't scratch the paint.

I do love the lightning connector though because when it's not dark plugging it in is so fast. No need to flip it over. Plus the smaller port looks way better.

But I was just wondering does anyone else have this problem. Did you on the 5,5s,5c? Am I just flat out stupid or something?

No, you are not stupid, LOL.

Use your finger to guide you.

May the force be with you.

If it's truly dark I use the LED on my phone. Provides enough indirect light to see.

But my iPhone 5 is jailbroken so it's just an easy Activator action to turn it on for me.

For this very reason I decided lights in my house would be a good idea.

Lol. Lights arn't a solution when your mom thinks you should be going to bed at 9:30 ;)

But then the bright light blinds me.... Damn I sound so stupid in this thead

I flip the "flashlight" on sometimes when I am plugging my phone in. Unless you sleep in a loft setting and mom is creeping on your from below, I think you can manage that. If mom is creeping, you got bigger problems than plugging in your phone.

Point the LED at the floor or close against something.

For example, my plug is on the floor and the lightning cable I leave on the floor. When I plug my phone in I am often bending down to get the cord so my phone is maybe two or three inches from the carpet where the LED is pointing. There's still enough reflected light to grab the cable and see to plug it in.

Dude... You go to bed at 9:30? Are you like... From the Midwest?

The old connector was a problem, also dangerous when the two little hooks on the side could scratch the bottom of the device. Lightning connector, not so much. :)

If the OP was not young, this thread title would be bait for all sorts of funny/snarky replies.

Just one, not so bad reply...

It will get easier, kid, as you get more experienced with both your new "connector" and the new "place it plugs into."

EDIT: Just go slow, and don't be nervous.

Age is simply a number.
Except when it comes to voting, drinking, and licensing (driving, flying, hunting, fishing, etc). ;)

If age was just a number I'd have been a menace on the road when I was five. Instead the law forced me to wait to be a menace until I was 16. Well, that and my parents threats. :D

I have trouble plugging in the lightning cable in the dark for sure. I'm always worried I'm scratching up the phone trying to get it in there (as I don't use a case). And I don't want to use the flashlight as my wife is usually asleep...

Not like it's a big deal, but I have noticed it.

Thank your mom for buying you the phone and tell her you are reading a book. She'll understand the light. :)

One of the very reasons why I love Qi wireless chargers like the Tilt Vu with my Nexus and Lumia phones. I don't even need to look at my nightstand while I'm in bed in the dark. I simply lay it on there, the charger has a small green led at the bottom that briefly comes on telling me the charging has started and that's it. Easy as can be.

My iPhone 6 on the other hand can be a PIA in the dark, especially after using Qi chargers. I really hope Apple eventually uses this tech. It took them a few years to add NFC, so it isn't out I'd the realm of possibility.

I do find the Lightning connector more difficult to plug in than the 30-pin, simply because the port and connector are smaller than before. But between the two, I prefer the Lightning because there's no possibility of it going in the wrong way.

Yeah wireless charging is kick ass. Fingers crossed for next year lol

Yeah I agree. Lightning harder to plug in at times but is better cuz it works both ways

Efficiency or rather the lack of it is why Apple probably hasn't implemented it. Also, Lightning has other uses besides charging. Syncing with iTunes, docking into speakers, video output and recently, HD audio output and headphones. You can do all of this wirelessly (except for HD audio, audiophiles will never do that)... but sometimes a wire is just better.

It isn't an 'either/or' proposition. As with Android, the Qi charging supplements the plug in. I can use Qi or USB to charge, but Qi is easier.
