Shine a flashlight at the display and take a look at it from different angles. You might have a surprise.
If you inspect your phone using a flashlight, tilting it looking for micro scratches you're the one with the problem... If I can't see them looking at it normally, I could care less. I have better things to do than nitpick and look for near invisible scratches.

My friend had a similar issue. He put her wife’s iPhone 11 in his pocket with his for a few minutes. Guessing the sapphire glass on his wife’s iPhone rubbed up against his screen.

None of my 7 to 8 iPhones over the years developed noticeable scratches and I’ve never used screen protectors.

This is kind of what mine looks like! I wonder if it’s cuz I had my moms new 11 and mine in the same pocket while I was setting hers up.
Glass against glass, or metal against glass with any dirt/dust/grit in between is just asking for scratches.

I have had my Pro Max since launch day. No scratches but I know myself and don’t want to oush my luck. I picked up a Zagg glass screen protector today for mine. I have had good luck with Zagg.

Not that I am hard on my phone but gives me a piece of mind if say something like was stuck to a finger and might scratch my screen or if there was something like small debris in my pocket or whatever. I know many don’t use one but for me it’s a good idea. YMMV

I put a glass full screen protector on my 11 pro max as soon as I got it. I got a three pack from amazon and I took the glass off of my xs max and immediately put it on this 11 pro. I have more at home. My glass doesn’t have the cut away section at the top for the notch, it covers all the glass with hardly any gap to the edge of the iPhone. I can’t even tell I’m using a glass protector. I don’t want my iPhone scratched...

Sucks for those that got new phones and screen immediately scratched up. Amazon has lots of cheap but high quality screen protectors. If nothing else it gives you peace of mind that the screen will be pristine and you can change the protector as necessary.

I’ve got that kind, too. Mine is the ESR brand a forum member recommended. It feels smooth and resists fingerprints.

I carry two phones and sometimes their displays hit against each other. I also spend a lot of time at the beach. A display protector is a must. And since there are these full screen tempered glass ones that you can’t tell are even there, I can’t imagine why anyone would not want to use them. I guess they just don’t want to be bothered. Or they had a bad result with film ones back a few years ago.

I’m sure most people saying they’ve got no scratches will find them if they inspect the display under a flashlight from different angles.

Anyway, I think the glass on this year’s display is quite resistant. My 11 Pro Max fell out of my pocket while I was sitting, screen facing the tile floor, and it’s only gotten two small and barely visible scratches.
Yes, you might see micro scratches but, I’m talki about deeper scratches I can see without aids.

That’s just silly.

This was me. Can’t remember what phone but it was before tempered glass protectors were around. Or popular at least. Bought a 3 pack. Got air bubbles on the first 2. The third I got on perfectly. However the screen wasn’t as responsive and wasn’t as clear. Peeled it right off. I work construction, and am constantly around blowing sand. So it’s unavoidable for it not to get everywhere. Especially pockets. Developed a decent scratch on my Xs max last year. Decided to try out a screen protector again this year. Got one of the ones that covers the whole screen. Put it on the day I got the phone, as soon as I took the plastic wrap off the phone, before I even turned it on. Perfect installation the first time, no air bubbles. I’ve been off work for about a month now, just had surgery last week so I’ll be off for another 5 weeks. But I have noticed a scratch on the screen protector. I know it said it was rated 9h on the package, no idea what that actually covers. Not sure what caused the scratch, just glad I have the screen protector.

I'm one of the last holdouts who refuse to put their phone in their pocket period. I use an Otterbox Defender with no screen protector.

No scratches since April on my Xs Max. Tbh, I wish there were more belt clips for the "regular" cases. Sigh...

Anyone know of a sexy case with a belt clip!? TIA

I feel like these types of threads surface every year. I’m not sure if Apple changed anything with their Oleophobic coating, but I’ve never had any issues with my display(s) scratching over the years. And no, I don’t use screen protectors, but I also am fairly cautious what I have in my pocket with my iPhone.

Depending on what kind of case you want, encase makes holsters meant for specific cases. I use an Apple silicone case and have the encase holster that’s built for it. They also make them for apples leather cases. Pretty sure I seen holsters for spigen cases as well
