I'm currently pretty happy with my iPhone X, but I'm on the iPhone upgrade plan and I'm a big fan of apple. I don't know what new features the new iPhone would have, but I'm kinda 'decided' to upgrade, I kinda feel obligated to upgrade to the newest iPhones. even though I'm pretty happy with the current one.
does anyone else feel the same?

btw, I don't buy the newest iPhone and apple devices to 'show off', it's just myself and I don't even tell anyone I have the newest iPhone. if that's something you want to 'educate' me.

maybe I should choose another words, other than obligated.
what im trying to say is, im sure there are someone like me out there, who have decided to buy the newest iPhone whenever it comes out. I don't really care about what new features it has, or whatever, I'm just buying it.

No. Never felt an obligation to give a company more of my money if I didn't have to. Especially if the latest product isn't anything I fancy.

Unfortunately, the last iPhone I truly liked and wanted was the iPhone 5/SE.

NO! Super happy with my 8+ and hope to keep it for at least two more years. Don't own the Apple watch but am very curious to see what they do with it. I would imagine I'm still at least a year away from buying one if I were to do so.

Well of course you feel obligated to upgrade, you already paid for that upgrade by being on the upgrade plan.

If you're happy with your device get out of the program and wait for something you actually want to buy.

Most people don't feel 'obligated' to upgrade. Most people would say that someone who feels 'obligated' to upgrade needs to stop and take a step back and re-evaluate their life.

That being said, you're in a different boat since you already are paying for it with your upgrade plan. So you might as well. But even then, obligation is a strong word.

I'm obligated to not spend a cent until they give me what I want, which is another 4" screened device. Until then, it's second hand SE's if the current one ceases to function.

"Obligated" is a poor choice of words Lol. I upgrade every. single. year.

I don't feel OBLIGATED though. I upgrade because I use the iPhone pretty much all day every day and want the latest and greatest. I take advantage of all the features and each iPhone is better than the last.

It's a no-brainer for me.

I do feel obligated to wait another year or more till they produce again something i really like ;) I have iPhonse 5se. Sold iPad Air, I still have macBookPro late 2013 which is doing great for work. I'm interested in the watch, but I will wait till first users test it and see if I should wait another year.

im not obligated but i do love having the new iphone every year. being in the upgrade plan, ive accepted that im always gonna have to make payments every month, so might as well just upgrade every year lol

Nope most likely keeping my current X, no since In “upgrading” to basically the exact same phone. The X is plenty of fast. And your honesty probably not gonna feel much difference in power. As the X is plenty fast enough. I’m just gonna wait til 2019 and see what comes out. Such as a smaller notch and a few other things.

I’m on the Apple upgrade plan and eligible for an upgrade. I don’t think I’m going to upgrade because I reall enjoy using Touch ID on my 8+. Definitely getting new Series 4 Apple Watch tho. We will see how well they push the new iPhone models tomorrow

No. I’m still using my 7 plus, I always upgrade every 2 years but I don’t feel the need to this time. I like touch id and my phone still runs great imo.

not really.

You have the choice to not upgrade even on a yearly upgrade plan. They aren't forcing you.
If you dont always want a 60$ payment it could be for the best as you'll eventually pay off your phone and it's yours.
Its like leasing a car do you always want to lease something?

‘Obligated’ to purchase optional tech from a $1 trillion company? No. I pick and choose what I want to upgrade to and when I want to upgrade at my leisure. I support Apple like everyone else does for the most part on here, but I have never felt obligated to purchase anything from a tech company.

It’s like saying do you ‘need’ or ‘want’, I’d go bold and say a good 90+ % or MR readers don’t need, only want.

My X would happily last another 2 or 3 years but I WANT the XSMax and shall be ordering that.

I see, I didn’t know you had that option with the upgrade program.

If I show this to my husband, will that increase my chances of an upgrade from my iPhone X? ;)

Why not, I think you deserve a new iPhone Xs. That’s what my sweet bride will get.
And I will get her iPhone 7plus... not as sexy sounding ut I’ll be happy.
