I've been browsing the Apple refurb store in search of my next MBP 15" 2011. The strange thing is that I don't ever see the 15" offered at LED-backlit Hi-Res GLOSSy widescreen display, always the hi-res anti glare.

Does anyone have a clue why?

I did saw them couple times! Keep trying you will see them!

probably because hi-res + AG is the only model they provide in the actual stores and when ppl return them they get refurb'ed.
