I work a lot with Inkscape for editing and creating two-dimensional vector graphics, which I further process with the Ink/Stitch Embroidery Extension software. My Intel notebook (i5, 16 GB RAM, short battery life) struggles when the program simulates the embroidery file, so I thought I would buy a MacBook Neo since the setting also runs on macOS.

The A18 processor is certainly powerful, but I'm still curious to know if anyone has specific experience with these settings and can provide feedback on whether the MacBook Neo is suitable. I'm a little concerned about the 8 GB of RAM. Or am I overthinking it, and is the MacBook Neo simply a much better choice than the Intel notebook?

It's been quite a while since I ran MacOS on Intel.

I just-now d/l the current version of Inkscape and it is a fluid experience (esp. compared to the last install I used (0.98 or something like that)). I'm using a M2 Max Studio 64GB/2TB BTO.

Apple Silicon is quite nice.

Other than that, I have nothing to add 😉

I am using Inkscape frequently, both on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs under macOS Sequoia and Tahoe. The Inkstitch extension should also work on any recent Mac, in particular on the MacBook Neo. I have installed Inkscape 1.4.3 and (for testing) Inkstitch 3.2.2 via Homebrew, but installing from the website you mentioned in the OP should also work. Feel free to ask if you need someone testing the performance of Inkstitch on Apple Silicon.
