In the US, does anyone have equal reception with their iPhone XS, Max, or R? I have had two Max phone so far and they are almost unusable if I am not on WiFi. I would love to get most any phone if it will work better! I have started the phones fresh, done DFU, and switched sims and phone and it seems worse in the second phone. I have to cycle the cellular antenna on and off all of the tome to get getting data and I am always at 0-2 bars. This isn’t workable for a year. I have Att, but I have an 8 and out the sim in there and it has normal reception...so it is the phones vs the sim or otherwise.

I haven’t had noticeable difference between my X and Xs Max. Not great but not bad either. They both have been using Intel chips. Is your 8 using a Qualcomm chip? My understanding is that the Intel chips haven’t been as good as the Qualcomm ones.

My new XS Max is pretty good at maintaining cellular connectivity, but I do have Verizon. Take your case off and see if that fixes yall’s problems

I have noticed my cousin and mother dropping calls with me quite often, but am starting to realize it is the area they are in.

I returned 2 Maxes for poor connectivity all the way around. Cellular was just way worse than my 6S Plus to the point that the Max was unusable maybe 30-40% of the time. Wifi - only had a short range inside the house, whereas my Plus had good WiFi around my yard also. Bluetooth- would have to go through the re-pairing often enough to be an annoyance.

There’s a whole other thread on this that goes into a lot more detail.

No issue with my Xʀ coming from a 6S but I’m in the uk. Though it has been slightly funny with my 5ghz broadband.

No issues here.. I have access to three phones.. iphone X on att.. 6S on VZ and XR on VZ..

I really want the XS, but these reception issues really makes me hesitant. Is it as bad as they say it is?

I was also looking at the XR, which supposedly doesn't have these issues, but I like the XS much better, since I value a good camera and screen. That being said, I probably value reception and connectivity the most since use my phone mostly for internet and video streaming (7-10GB/mo even outside of Wifi).

It'll be really hard for me to justify paying an extra $250 just for a better camera and screen, but have to deal with not able to use the phone b/c of reception.

FYI - I'm on Verizon and travel between the Philly, NYC and Boston areas

I’m in the same boat as you are. I’m in North Jersey on Verizon and service is normally sketchy in my area. I’m watching the forums constantly hoping to hear some good news. I know not everyone is effected, but I’m not risking $1100 on a potential paperweight either. I’d be all about the Xr but I really like the telephoto lenses in the Xs series. So I’m watching and waiting like I’m sure lots of people are.

My xs max is as good if not better than my 7+. There are actually a few areas I can now get service where I didn't with the 7+. Tmobile

No issues with my Max on At&t. Actually better signal with the eSim then previous signal before. But signal is good as has been similar to previous phones with much faster speeds.

I’m in Philly with a XS Max no reception issues at all on Sprint.
I would think Verizon would be better.

My case is plastic. And having it off doesn’t make a difference. :(

There's an extremely long thread about this problem that I'm sure you've seen. 3800 comments and growing...

Yes. I don’t want to read through all of that... I read through a lot...but I wanted to know instead of those who are complaining....who is happy? And which phone and which carrier.

Sounds like there are a lot more people that have good service rather than poor service with their new phones. If you purchase a new phone now the return window is longer - what do you have to lose?
