We have a ten year model that still runs like a champ despite eating a utensil some years ago.

Make lots of shakes, sauces and other such things. Only complaint: the noise. I think more modern models are a bit quieter but this is one kitchen tool I will always make sure I have (along with a separate juicer).

Hi! Talking about blenders. When it comes to Single-serve Blender, what brand or model can you suggest?
It's okay if its pricey but I want to make sure it is worth it.

We just bought one over the weekend. It's something I wanted to get after learning about them several years back, but we found no real reason to get one simply because we rarely if ever have to blend anything. I am considering buying a Ninja, which is a cheaper unit, to make nut butters.

Edit: Damn bots.

I'm thinking about getting a Vitamix. Basically I love drinking fruits & veggies much more than eating them. I'm looking to use this on a daily basis.

Does anyone have one? Is it really that good and worth the money? I looked at comments of Amazon and most are good.

Have had two and loved them. The first went with the ex and the next one got left in the states when I moved to Germany. I would highly recommend that blender, it will probably be the last one you buy.

I am looking to get anther as we speak!

I don't own one, but my parents had one of the old all-metal ones and it ran, ran, ran, ran, ran....

When it FINALLY died they bought a newer one, but it had significantly lower power and general overall robustness.

They still have a pretty good reputation. If you're serious about using one for smoothies, you're limited. It's either Vitamin or BlendTec. These are the only two blender that perform highly enough to break down molecular walls and make it easier for your body to begin digestion and get the most out of your stuff.

At least, when I researched them like 5 years ago that was the case.

There is the Ninja, which uses multiple blades. I don't see it coming close to one of those, but it has its uses. Multiple blades come in handy. Especially if you make your own nut butters. However, a stone grinder is a better investment. I still haven't but a Ninja for making my own butters or pastes. I'm on the lookout for something more efficient. However, we did use out Vitamix to make Kahlua snow cones a few weeks back when it was extremely hot outside.

The big box stores should carry it. Aren't you moving back to the states in a year or two?

They do, they are just a little pricier here for the 220. As for moving back, no, I plan to stay as long as I can this time.

Is that with VAT or even if you remove VAT? I'm not familiar with the 220. I don't recall an A2200 model being available here. The old 5200 is probably the best model in terms of features and price. It also uses the classic 64 oz base and container as opposed to the stumpy low profile one, which has issues creating the proper vortex inside to drive food back down.

To be honest, I am not sure. All the prices I have seen are with VAT, but I can get it tax free, so that would help. They are shorter containers as well but I never thought about it affecting the operation. I'll have to look into that. My guess is that you can get the taller container for them if you wanted. Counter space is a premium in Germany.

Yeah, that's the 64 oz. compact container. I don't know for sure. From the images, there seems to be a sizeable difference in base. Best to contact Vitamix USA and ask them. In terms of size and vortex, what I've read and been told is purely anecdotal, but it does make sense. It might be interchangeable. The legacy and new blades system is the same. The container shape is different. It very may well be able to take a legacy 64 oz container. Apart from the vortex, the wider container supposedly has issues blending small amounts. I think this plays in with the vortex theory. Too little food in a wide amount of space isn't good. You would probably be beating air for the most part.

I'd watch and read a lot of reviews before getting one. See which would suit you best. Then you've got the various blades to think about.
