NOXEMA... yes thats right... the skin cleanser with alll the alcohol in it

will take the pain and itching away immediately... trust me on this one...

i was scared to try it at first, but it works so well that i keep some in the medicine cabinet at all times just in case....

you will be happy you did :)

buy some and cake it on the burned areas... it will dry white on your skin but easily washes off in the shower...

Edit: looks like iSaint beat me too it...

Get some Aloe Vera [The real thing], cut it in half, and start rubbing it all over yourself. And whatever you do, do get any of it in your mouth somehow, that stuff tastes nasty!

Ok, I ended up spending way too much time on the beach today and couldn't find my sun lotion before I went out. Needless to say, I've now started turning a rather worrying shade of pink.

I've covered myself in loads of moisturiser and I'm drinking lots of water. Any other ideas? It doesn't hurt... yet at least.

First off your lucky you have a beach to go do. Well I could drive to one of these Texas lakes, but they aren't the same as an ocean.

Get some aloe and put it in the fridge. Then after 2 hours put on your skin and man the cooling feelling is sweet

I agree with the aloe vera. I also take cold showers and that feels good. (Im just getting over a burn from a week ago, I didn't think I was gonna be out that long )

On another note, wouldnt it be great if someone were to come out with a body soap that has suntan lotion in it? Then I would be able to make sure I get everything covered (Putting sunscreen on your back by yourself makes interesting designs of sunburn :) )

if you put lotion in the refrigerator and then put it on..

Oooooo, it feels SO GOOD on the burn.

If I were stupid enough, I'd purposefully get a burn, JUST TO DO THAT.

As a loose rule-of-thumb, keep away from creamy moisturisers and stick to more transparent gels. They have less propensity to trap the heat in and cause further damage.

*Waits for mpw to make a comment about cream*

All my sunburn pretty much disappeared, which was nice. The milk thing helped but the tea bag thingy was better, cool tea bags felt nice.

The only bits that feel sore are my eyelids, obviously I couldn't moisturise them, should have at least done the tea thing on them but forgot, I mean who burns eyelids, not one of the parts you think of. They've felt pretty sore all day.

I think I'm developing a smidgen of a tan too, which is a first!! Hopefully its a nice day tomorrow, I really want to go for a proper swim in the sea, I do very much appreciate living so close to the sea even if the beach is a pebble beach. I used to take it for granted but having spent time away at University I missed it like hell. The seagulls too, sleeping without hundreds of seagulls screeching at four in the morning just doesn't feel right anymore...
