Does anyone know what happened to chromium legacy?

Chromium legacy was supported until 2024 until the dev just stopped releasing new versions, does anyone know what happened to the dev, did they just stop releasing new versions or was there a reason they stopped that I couldn't find. This is the repo link here. Also does anyone know any maintained browsers preferably firefox or chromium based, that support el capitan?

Someone told me about a firefox esr branch that looks as it’s still being maintained and is compatible with all the same versions as chromium legacy, github repo link.
