only guessing but it can mean calls are set to call forward

If its in your call log it means its a call you made if the arrow is going the other way it was an incoming call.

I should have been a little bit more specific I think!! The handset is permanently displayed next to my wi fi symbol at the top of my screen x

TTY is a handset and dashes under it. Call forwarding is a handset with an arrow pointing away.

TTY shows battery side
Call forwarding next to wifi.

To turn off tap setting >phone
