Does anyone know what's going on here?

I've got an iphone 5s i'm working on, and it was stuck in recovery mode. i tried to restore it via pc and now it keeps booting (apple logo screen), then shuts down, apple logo, shut down etc. It's doing it all on its own. Note i sometimes get a full red screen!?
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this without having to go to apple support?

Did you open up your phone? I've heard it's due to damaged flex cables.
