When my MBPr goes to sleep, when I wake it up the screen is just black with the cursor for like 15 seconds until I see the desktop.

Doesn't happen all the time but several times a day.

I'm hoping 10.9.3 fixes this as it is very annoying!

Never had that problem personally. I love how quickly it wakes up. W7 on the other hand seems to always take a lifetime.

And not sure but supposedly soon. Most likely days rather than weeks. As they are now internally testing 10.9.4.

It wanted me to download something else first. Will that slow down my computer?

I would not download a developer seed unless you are prepared for possibly other annoying issues. They are called developer seeds for a reason...they are only for developers to test with.

    Stick with the official releases.

I've had this issue on 10.9.2 as well on my late 2013 13".

I did find a work around, although not ideal by any means.

Basically, set your screen saver to come on after 2 minutes.

Also, set your computer to use a pass code immediately after it goes to sleep or screen saver comes on.

For both battery and on power under energy settings, change the screen off delay to 15 minutes.

I've only had this setting for like half a day but so far so good.

Do you use your own photos as screen saver?

The latest build they released for public beta is very stable. However, it sounds like 10.9.3 is going to be officially released soon anyways.

Yeah, looks like it's not out today.

However, let's all hope Apple is holding the public release out because they're really working hard on Mavericks and trying to squash all the bugs/odd, errant behavior.

I'd wager on either tomorrow or Thursday being public release.

Sounds like a unique issue to your computer. I am sure something displaying these symptoms would be widely talked about. Lucky you can see the cursor though, rules out video card issue :p software issues are such a relief.

Either way, I hope this issue is fixed for you. Maybe you should test to see if the dev preview fixes the issue so you can rule out osx bug or not. If I were you I would wait for the public release though since it is not too much of an annoyance and the release must be any day now.

And another weekend is around the corner :p

Apple, by all means take all the time you please if you have found anything critical; it just looks a bit puzzling for a build that was widely deemed "imminent".
