I'm just wondering as they have bought out two new models.

Thanks

No. Next phone will be released 2014. Not releasing a phone in 2014 would redefine stupidity of Apple's part.

It's annoying for their customers who see new iPhones every year I think as they have a two year contract.

Hence, why some people are on the 'S' cycle while others are on the 'new' design cycle. If Apple waited until 2015, then everyone who owns a 5 would have to wait 3 years to get a 'new' iPhone.

Not a chance. 100% 2014.

I'm upgrading to the 5S next month which is annoying to think a new one will be out a year later.

So should I upgrade to the 5S and sell it when the 6 comes out? Or skip a year on the contract and then get 6?

i agree with this there are also some people who have two lines one for ipad one for phone and you can "steal" the upgrade from one line and use i for the other line. there is good since they dont discount ipads and so there is always an upgrade for me and i can upgrade every year if i wanted too.

Next year may be among the most difficult upgrades for Apple because they will likely have to increase the width of the screen. I'm not sure how they will approach that issue with millions of 4, 4S, 5, 5C and 5S on the market all with the same widths. I guess app makers will adjust, but that is a serious change... The change in screens from 1/3G/3S to 4/4S to 5/5C/5S have all been simpler in a way. I wouldn't be surprised if that somehow pushed the next phones back a couple of months. But late 2014 seems a good bet.

you don't think R&D have been working on it since before the iphone 5 even? I think apple will have 2 size phones starting next year and it may be that way for a while.

How does that work? Having a post paid iPad plan?

they aren't changing the width, they're gonna change the height AND width.

why would they go back to the 4:3 screen? makes no sense.

And what about Android phones ? They seem to come out more than once per year, and those customers also are on a two year contract.

They could simply quadruple the resolution to 2272x1280. That way they would only need to support 3 resolutions on the iPhone (iPod) lineup, 1136x640, 2272x1280 and 960x640 (I guess 4s will be discontinued next year so in a few years that will be reduced to two resolutions.) The processing power should be sufficient for all those pixels. (A7 already has enough horsepower for it)

Welcome to technology. Most other manufactures release a new phone every few months. Many analysis believe Apple should release more new phones. Fortunately the phone you purchase should work just fine for 4 years.

many people do nit have a 2 year contract, there are also 1 year contracts and people who buy their phones cash. I buy my phones cash so I get one every year but my wife doesn't care as much so she just get each "s" release.

you add another line on to your account. its an extra $10 a month on VZW for me and i share the data between my phone and iPad mini. but when you add a line its a real line and there is an upgrade attached to it that you can use for your main line.

But it requires the newer style plans with shared data? That's unfortunate because that would be awesome to just make it postpaid on a regular plan.
