If Apple wants to remain a viable company in the stock market then they'd better be able to update and make new products. At it's current rate it's pretty obvious that people aren't happy. To suggest that it'd be slower still would be suicide.

It's annoying for their customers who see new iPhones every year I think as they have a two year contract.

People like you make it sound like apple purposely releases a new iPhone to make the previous generation holders feel like cr4p....there is a new phone generation released every year...its normal...if u want one yearly, then fork up the money...you sign the contract and pay more while thinking you are actually saving money...when your not...as contracts cost way more than Phone up front + Prepaid....

just by buying Apple products, one does not become a VIP or anything...you are simply buying because you enjoy the quality of the product....no one forces you to...and its not just apple that does this...every manufacturer replaces their products yearly, some like samsung almost run two laps around their customers.

Also if done right, one can upgrade yearly comfortably while keeping it light on the wallet and like me I'm sure there are many other wise upgraders among this forum and out there....you simply keep a dumb phone around, ditch your current gen at the right time and you can upgrade without at times even putting a penny into the next.....

----------

I'm upgrading to the 5S next month which is annoying to think a new one will be out a year later.

----------

So should I upgrade to the 5S and sell it when the 6 comes out? Or skip a year on the contract and then get 6?

Every year they release a new car gen....as every year everything out there gets replaced....but doesn't mean one has to or even needs to get the latest and greatest....

As for skipping a year...its really up to you and how desperate you are to get the latest and greatest....you can pay up front...or get contract and choose the road you wish to travel on....and at the end of the day you have to consider what your budget allows you to do as well as what you can do with your budget...like I buy my iPhone's used always couple months after launch as many become available on places like craigslist and eBay....saving me $100-$200 off retail price.

I have a feeling we'll be back to June releases, with a June 2015 launch of the iPhone 6.

I also have this feeling. They know they need so catching up to do. You could see it in their faces in the keynote, it was awkward. They can't afford to wait till September.

Probably iPhone 6 next fall, but, at one point last year, Tim Cook said that Apple would release products when they are ready, not necessarily keep to a certain schedule. The 4S was 16 months instead of the usual 1 year...rumors say it was because they could not get decent battery life with LTE...they were trying to get the iPhone 5 out, but put it out another year and reworked things into existing form factor without LTE, thus 4S.

So, if not next fall, early 2015.
