I wanted to ask does anyone use Microsoft edge for Mac I find safari not as good as use Mozilla Firefox as well would like to hear if you find it a good web browser .

Never tried it. I do use Edge on my work windows laptop and it's okay with the couple of work related sites I use with it, though whatever the default new tab page is that it pulls up spins my lenovo's fans something fierce.

Just out of curiosity, what do you dislike about Safari? It's what I prefer on macOS, though I'll occasionally use Chrome if I have to.

I find with Safari it can be slow I have good internet speed also I can get a error message with safari Safari cannot open this page and the same website in Firefox opens no problem has Safari ever had update ?personally I think Apple should dump Safari and create a new browser but I guess that won’t happen .I would never go back to Windows system Apple is so much easier and the security is good .

I've tried Edge (which is based on Chromium), but I prefer using Brave (also Chromium). Like you, I haven't found Safari to have the best browsing experience on Mac - the only pros I see are iCloud sync and lower impact on battery life. Hard to explain, but Safari feels a tad slow and floaty compared to Brave.

Try out a few browsers and stick what what feels best to you. You can always switch as your needs/preferences shift.

Thanks. Only thing I've found not to work in Safari is YouTubeTV but I so rarely access that from a computer it's not been an issue to bring up Chrome for that case.

Safari is showing as version 13.1 (15609.1.20.111.8) so it seems they update it at least every now and then. :p

and yes, for personal usage I've been on macos ten years now and don't anticipate returning to Windows. No choice for work though, not unless I go work somewhere else, and I'm not eager to do that.

I alternate between Edge and Safari. Edge (chromium) has better developer tools which I need for my job, but otherwise, I prefer Safari for its low memory footprint.

Despite Chrome and Edge being both based on chromium, Edge for some reason is still a lot better in resource management.

I use Safari as my personal browser and Edge for work stuff - too many work sites require chromium and I'd rather not have all of Google's tracking installed. Seems fast and stable to me, and being able to use extensions from the Chrome store is a big plus.

I use Edge (Chromium) almost exclusively at work and quite a bit at home. The newer Chrome version fixes some of the resource issues that exist within Chrome.

I've been using Edge as my default browser since it was launched. I'm enjoying the experience so far. The only issue I have is that it doesnt remember mute settings for tabs.

I've switched over completely from Safari to Edge on both Macs. Safari was a good and decent browser but the lack of a proper extension API after Apple's latest brainfart that killed pretty much all useful extensions, particularly ad blockers, was a deal breaker for me. The current state of ad blockers on Safari is unsatisfactory, to say the least, and many extension developers have stopped supporting Safari altogether due to the limitations imposed upon them by the current extension distribution model that requires every extension to be compiled as full-fledged application to be distributed through the Mac App Store (solely for Apple's benefit so they can get their 30% share for paid extensions), the limitations imposed upon them by the comparatively restricted and poorly documented API itself, and last but not least Apple's proven unreliability regarding long-term API support and availability.

The only real benefit was iCloud Tab Sync, and that, too, was too unreliable and broke fairly often so I completely stopped relying on and using it after a while.

I use Edge on my new Mini. I have been a Chrome user for years, and since Edge has the Chromium engine underneath, I tried it out, and found that I really like it. Plus it syncs with my Microsoft account. It also seems lighter on resources than Chrome.

I've never been a fan of Safari in MacOS, but I do use it on my iPhone, but I have since starting using MS Edge on my iPhone lately as well.

If I can say anything about my journey on the Safari app extensions world is that the current API is a (in)complete mess. Extremely limited, does not work the same across different versions and the complete lack of support and decent documentation. In the developer forums, for every 250 topics, there's a reply from Apple; Filling up radars has no effect - always radio silence from their side; Filling TSIs results in them acknowledging the bug\limitation and suggesting to fill a radar...

People mock Balmer's developers, developers, developers speech, but at least over there developers are not that ignored plus, they don't pay the yearly $99 dev fee which makes all these issues even more frustrating

I have tried Edge on the Mac and I cannot say I am impressed. Text rendering and scrolling are not as good as in Safari. Power consumption is also important when using a MacBook. I just prefer the OS integration that Safari offers. Another thing that bothers me in Edge is the total lack of system extensions, as presented in macOS. Edge is using its own extensions and can also use Chrome's extensions, but the problem is that it doesn't integrate well into macOS and that is a showstopper for me.
Apart from that Edge is really a good browser and is improving every day.

I installed Edge beta or dev build on most of my Mac. It's quite good especially come to ad blocking. Since I don't use any extension, I can't tell in that department.

I prefer Safari Technology Preview, but some work tasks require a chromium-based browser. Power Automate (formerly MS Flow) is one of them.

I use the Edge Browser for my MS logins/products and Outlook. The browser is being refined for MS products.

Actually, I started using Edge on Windows 10 because it was a novel experience--a break from Chrome. The first iteration of Edge, which did not fully use the Chromium engine, wasn't that great. But the final iteration was pretty good. It used Chrome extensions and I found it to be speedier than Chrome. I've been using it on my new Mac Mini for several weeks now and the experience is identical to Windows 10. It has imported Chrome's bookmarks flawlessly and still seems to render pages quickly. Also, the "Collections" feature is interesting and convenient.

But again, I'm using it primarily because it's new. I don't see an outstanding difference overall from Chrome.

I was using Edge on Windows then switched over to Mac a few months back and so far it works well for me. Bookmarks, passwords and extensions sync across windows, mac, ipad, iphone etc. I'd be interested in the power comments, has anyone seen any published power draw figures of Edge vs Safari?

I use edge when I need a Crome based browser.
I like the privacy settings much better than Chrome, and I find it is better on battery life and usage resource. Overall I still like to the feel and functions of Safari better. But if Safari didn’t exist, I would strongly consider edge as my primary browser.

I like Brave as my #2 browser, but it's basically a coin toss between Brave and Edge. They're both very, very similar and very good. Perhaps a slight edge to Brave on privacy.
