I have the 34" AOC UltraWide monitor hooked up to my MacBookProRetina but I am thinking buying the 6core Mac Pro. Does anyone know if the 3440x1440 Res will work flawless ?

Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt. But I imagine a monitor of this type would run just fine with Displayport as well. Same display connection type without the data passthrough.

I've got the curved version of the LG 34" ultra wide, and it works fine with my macs over both display port and thunderbolt. On the LG, thunderbolt gives access to any USB peripherals plugged into the display.
Even my old mini with the Intel HD4000 GPU can drive it just fine at 3400x1440.

I have the curved version of the Samsung 34" at the same resolution. No particular issues, using DisplayPort to drive it. My card is a GTX 780 in a 4,1 MacPro. It's amazing how much you can do with so much space.
