Just a quick one, just bought a XR and with Apple not selling official cases I’m looking at other options.

I’m liking the idea of a plain, clear TPU case but I’ve read on other sites that the cases can mark your phone. I’m not sure if it’s dirt getting trapped between the phone and the case which will happen with any case or if it’s something to do with the silicone over time affecting the metal finish.

Some people have even said the heat from wireless charging causes something to happen to the silicone.

Has anyone had any experience? I just like to kee my devices pristine so thought I’d ask first.

Cheers.

I haven’t yet had issues with the clear TPU. But some of the colored ones have left marks. I’m now using film back glass protectors. At the moment I’m using a Caudabe Clear View case. I like it a lot. It’s all hard plastic. But a lot of people think it’s too slippery. It is a bit like handling a naked phone.

TPU is a different type of material from silicone.

i havent heard about TPU marking cases. but heat definitely wont affect silicone. there cooking tools like spatula made of silicone and they can take heat up to around 392f

Well this a Spigen review from amazon, this is the sort of thing I’m worried about. I’m presume the same thing would apply to TPU cases.

Isn’t that the iPhone 7? I remember issues with the marking on the aluminum casings. Don’t remember hearing issues with the glass backs.

That happened with my 7+ and a Spigen Rugged Armor case. I have heard it will come right out with rubbing alcohol. I didn't try because I traded mine in.

A few years ago I used a screen protector on my iPhone 6 that used a micro grid pattern to avoid rainbow effect. When I removed the SP, I could see the grid pattern. Tried everything to remove it but couldn't. I know it's not exactly the same as a case, but no way I'll use anything with a pattern again.

I got marks on my black 7 Plus with a Spigen case. I traded mine in also and got the promised value of 50% off the monthly on my XS Max.
I used a Spigen on my Space Grey 6 Plus and no marks at all.
I’m using a Spigen on my XS Max and so far the glass back is clean and use wireless charging 98% of the time.

I do.

Right now I am alternating between a Caudabe Lucid clear(too , Ringke Slim(my favorite tbh) and Luvvitt Clarity (the thinnest TPU clear case I have found)..
