iPod touch Does Apple downclock the Wifi chip when idle?

Speedtest reports speeds of 100 - 200 KB/s after the iPod Touch was locked for a while.

After I return to the home screen again, I run the test and get 1200 - 1600 KB/s but the numbers slowly climb up.

It has a low power mode. But the mode switch is near instant.

The only chip that is underclocked officially is the processor. It is underclocked by 200 MHz...

As for the WiFi chip, it is low powered as Intell has said, but as for underclocking the WiFi speeds, I doubt it if someone has proof...
