Sent my phone in for repair using the box apple sent me to use (prepaid fedex label from them already on it etc)… got an email from apple saying the box was empty when they got it.. i sure hope they insured it. But man this is exactly why it is unfortunate that they make you turn off find my phone when sending it in for repairs. Anyone know if its covered or am i screwed.

Do you have a receipt for shipping the box? If so, was the box weighed when it was dropped off etc? I don't believe Apple pays for individual item insurance on the box. I believe they just pay for express shipping cost.

I would contact Apple support via phone or business chat via iMessage is possible and get the official policy on that aspect of shipping.

All I can find on Apple support docs is Apple stating to get a receipt from the courier.

No, they picked it up at my house… i would think apple has insurance on it- i mean, when would i have had opportunity to insure it? They just do it all for you… And they don’t ask if you want insurance or anything… and on top of that, they make you turn off find my phone to have it repaired… so that’s great. i‘ll have to contact them again and find out i guess… i just didnt want to go through the process again.

I hope I am wrong about Apple not insuring the package for the value of the contents. I think you are out pocket on the phone.
