Does Apple Store app allow carrier upgrades?

So I’m hoping that ordering the iPhone X will go off without a hitch but I have a quick question about the Apple Store app

I have an iPhone 6S on AT&T with a upgrade available , if I go on to The Apple Store app with that iPhone 6S and the app detects my number, Can I upgrade to the iPhone X installment plan?
