Bought a NOS 2015 15" MBP on eBay and it arrived in a 2016 box. The serial number is valid with Apple and it is under warranty for one year. The Mac is brand new inside and I checked the build date to be Aug. 2017. Inside the MBP is brand new and all the accessories are also new. The inner packaging looks to be from 2015 model.

You can also see on the video that the picture is a non-TouchBar MBP but they never made a 15” MBP without TB.

Has anyone here seen this before?

I can't see clearly in your video, but if you bought it from eBay, it is likely a refurbished and seller repackaged item. Apple shouldn't be making 2015 models in 2017, except refurbished ones.
The font on the sticker looks a little bit weird to me.
Did you check if the serial codes engraved on the laptop, on the sticker, and in the system match?

    My Mac Pro was a 2017 build, but it's a Late-2013 system.

    So what?

When people here say "2015 MacBook Pro" or "2013 Mac Pro" or "Late 2016 MacBook Pro" they're usually referring to the date when that model was launched - not when an individual machine was actually built. Its not as if they have to make 3 years' supply on launch day and never build any more (although they might do that for some products - who knows?)

The "2013 Mac Pro" is still on sale today. Some of the "2015 MacBook Pro" models remained available as low(er)-cost options for the first half of 2017. Its perfectly feasible to have a "2015" or "2013" model that was actually built and sold new in 2017. Unless you've got inside information on Apple's business logistics that proves otherwise...

I did look at the serial number on the box and it does say mid 2015 and the warranty is good until 29 Dec 2018.

Does the SN on the box match the one on the computer?

I do understand that when the product was launch and when it is made can be very different.

Yes, the serial on the box also match the laptop and the OS. Also, the battery shows 2 cycles so it's new. The only odd thing is the picture on the box is the wrong model.

Anyone here ever seen that before?

So in 2017 you bought a 2013 model brand new that didn’t have so much as a spec bump in 4 years?

Correct - a new Mac Pro out of the box today says its a 2013 Mac Pro in About This Mac

Same for the Mac mini - even one purchased today says it's a 2014 Mac mini.
