I currently have CarPlay in my truck (love it!!) and I am thinking of getting a series 1 later this afternoon. I was wondering if anyone out there has an Apple Watch and CarPlay and let me know how that works out for your.

Good question. I have completely forgot my car has both car play and Android Auto. I never use either, since my iPhone just auto connects via BT.

Now that I have an Apple Watch, if there is some good points to be made, I'll turn Car Play n and start using it again.

CarPlay is ok, but there is no integration with Apple Watch. Most CarPlay systems have to be plugged into lightning they don’t use Bluetooth.

Trouble with CarPlay for me, I have Sat Nav built into my car and it’s better than iPhone navigation. It’s doesn’t lag and doesn’t need data connection. Also, you can only search your music library when moving with Siri, and that also requires a data connection.

I've got CarPlay in my new car; and in my old car, I used the AW with the iPhone -- but without CarPlay.

I don't really pay attention to the Watch in the new CarPlay-equipped car as much as I did in the old car. The dash display is plenty big, and it's easy to read and tap the controls.

The AW was great to use without CarPlay, because its taps and "ding-dong" chimes for navigation came in on time, and it showed the next turn quite clearly. But it's a little redundant with CarPlay.

It's caused no problems, though. The AW still receives notifications and nav directions from the phone while I'm using CarPlay. Maybe it'll work for music controls and texts, but it's simply easier to use the dash display and steering wheel controls.

I also suppose that I could plug the charging puck into one of my car's USB outlets and top up the AW's battery on a long road trip if it ever gets to that point.

About the only thing I can think of that relates the :apple:Watch to CarPlay is when you get a Message I don't think it notifies you on you :apple:Watch. I could be wrong but I don't remember it notifying. But other than that (if it is so) there is nothing different or related to CarPlay apps that the :apple:Watch does.
