Does Apple watch track your TDEE like Fitbit?

    Fitbit also calculates the calories your body burns at rest and just existing. Being a lazy ass my body still burns about 2200 calories a day. Does he Apple watch include that? Or just count steps?

    Yes it tracks calorie burning.

    My understanding is that the Watch doesn't actually monitor steps, instead it monitors the calories your body burns throughout the day.

    You don’t have an Apple phone or watch? Both count steps. The phone estimates the number of floors climbed - as do the watches after the first model. Ios11 gives you an automatic estimate of your heart rate while walking also
