I remember back in the day, my first real phone was a Motorola KRZR on T-Mobile. I was going on vacation with my parents to Europe and needed a phone. I called T-Mo and asked the rep to give me an unlock code. No hassle, no fuss, nothing. He gave me the code and my phone was permanently unlocked. Is there any case where AT&T does this, ever?

AFAIK, there is a lawsuit going on regarding to locked/unlocked iphones.

This is just ridiculous, if you take a look to the iPhone&countries selling them list, USA is one of few countries selling iphone locked!!!
