I searched my number and a person I work with who has verizon, both came up with the option to find address

I looked up the number of my phone (AT&T) and a friend (Verizon).

Neither offered the address. The info offered was exactly the same.

Edit: mine was ported from Verizon to AT&T, my friend's was ported from AT&T to Verizon.

Double edit: a t-mobile (ported from Verizon) number gave the name right away, but didn't offer an address. And another Verizon number (original VZW) offered address, relatives etc.

My wife's number on AT&T showed up, but my number on verizon doesn't list my name.

Sprint -> Tmobile -> AT&T now ... my number has a match, but it shows two address which are not in the same city as me. Kinda freaky how you can get anyones name and address from just their number :p

The name didn't show up for either of my parent's AT&T number who ported from Sprint.
It didn't show up for my AT&T number (which wasn't ported).
It showed up for my friend on AT&T (not ported)
Showed up and didn't show up for some friends on Sprint.
Didn't show up for some friends on Verizon.
Showed up for T-Mobile

Not sure why it is like that.

Three of my numbers were ported from ATT (then Cingular) to Verizon and it doesn't display name. Just the option to search Intellius or whatever for who owns it.

My number is originally a Verizon number and it shows the same thing as my other formerly (like 8 years) ATT phones.

I searched three verizon numbers and no name or address came up.

I searched two AT&T numbers and the individuals names, but no addresses, came up for both

I believe that is one thing Verizon did that I actually thought was cool of them.

At one point some one wanted to put out a plaid pages with people's cellphone numbers. Verizon refused to participate (AT&T/Cingular I think didn't have an issue with participating claiming that you opted in... which I was wondering "For how long until you have to opt out? And then how long til it's like the land lines where you pay extra to opt out?").

That's some bs, I can't believe that information is so easy to find.

I checked for my whole family (3 ported from VZW to AT&T, one ported from Nextel to AT&T), and all 4 showed the correct city as well as the correct name.

Is there anything I can do about this?

I'm actually wondering about this as well. From a previous poster, it appears there is some way.

My best guess is that they're pulling information from caller ID. The reason I say this is because I recently changed a name on my family account through AT&T's website and that name was used in the TNID database. If you're concerned about your information, I'd start by changing your name in your online account (or wait until someone else is able to chime in and verify my suspicions).

Yeah there's a "remove" link on the results page. I tried it and it instantly removed me. You have to call a 1-800 number from the phone number you want deleted the enter a code the website gives you. Instantly removed me.

I too did the same thing a while back. I put my name in the caller ID since it would always say my mom's name since she's the account holder, I changed it to mine and I believe that's where it's pulling the info from. The estimate of where I could be is getting it from the area code, so that's not a surprise. You can do that with google nowadays as long as you know the area code. However, if it does manage to guess my exact address, then something is up.

I currently can't check since I don't have any money. :p
