does att allow combining plans before itunes activation?

Assuming apple is selling the white iphones tomorrow, could my fiancee and I place 2 separate orders for an iphone (on different cards to different addresses) and then take them to the att store and have them put on 1 family plan?

Edit: it may be worth noting we're both new to att, and I'll be porting a number from sprint. She won't be porting a number.
