I ordered a gold 16gb T-Mobile phone from the Apple.com website on Sep 26th. However, now it says it will ship from 24-28th of october.

Just to clear my conscience, I decided to check on the bestbuy website, and it says that 16gb verizon versions ALL COLORS (gold, silver and space grey) are available "in store only".

Should I cancel my order right now and go get it? Will they sell the device only? Is the website trustworthy to tell me if they have it in stock?

Thanks guys

although they list it on the website that they sell device only (for $50 more than Apple), you will rarely get any of them to sell it to you device only in a store.

Do you think they would clarify that by phone? Like I could call before I go tomorrow, and ask them to hold a contract free one for me?

Don't cancel anything just yet.

"In Stores Only" is different from "Available" in said stores.

"In Stores Only" is just them saying they won't be selling them online. Click on the product you want, scroll down to Product Availability, and then click check stores.

never hurts to try, but your chances are slim. Honestly if it were me, id wait or buy from apple instead of paying the extra $50.

I did, and it says in store only. Here's a print screen:

The thing is, I've been waiting on that since the beginning of September. 2 months without a phone is getting really uncomfortable.

have you tried looking at apple stores?
http://iphone-check.herokuapp.com

this is a handy page that checks the inventory of all the apple stores in your area. If you see stock you can order online for instore pickup. Just select the month-month option and it will charge you full price and not extend your contract.

That's a problem, I live in WV, the state with no Apple Stores.

Oh okay. I would call first thing in the morning. As soon as they open. The worst they can tell you is no.

With that said, even if they agree over the phone, I wouldn't cancel a thing until the phone is physically in my hands.
