I've got an official unlocked iPhone 4 from the UK. I currently have an Orange SIM in it. When I go back to the states and insert my AT&T SIM, will the carrier file get updated? Does it need to be updated? Do I have to do anything with iTunes? I'm hoping to use my iphone between these two because of my travel.

Does carrier file get updated when swapping SIMs?

The carriers file are already on your Phone, its just use the correct one depending on what network (supported of course) it is. The only time you need to reload you carrier file is when they release an update.

When you plug your iphone to itunes and click check for update it will let you know if there's a carrier update and ask you to install it.
If not you dont have to worry about it.
