Does contacts and notes still update?

I'm looking to buy my wife an old iphone 3G and was wondering if it still syncs with the icloud contacts and notes?

Don't bother, it'll be worse than snail slow and stuck on iOS 5 (forget about iCloud). The 4 is still quite useable.
