Does contributing lose your rank?

I would be fine contributing to MacRumors but one thing caught my attention.

Will we lose our ranks? Meaning, let's say I have the 6502 rank. Would I lose that and it would be replaced with Demi-God?

Any chance we could keep our ranks and put the contributor title beneath the rank?

If you contribute you can ask to have the rank remain instead of having the Demi/Contributor title.
